Home based a better choice
Many people have asked me, “Why have you not opened a salon in a premises as opposed to a home based salon?” and “will you eventually branch out to a shop in time?”
Simple answer is no. You see when I was setting up Lemon Tree Beauty Salon I wanted to correct the mistakes which salons make constantly.
I too have been a client don’t forget. I too get annoyed at pushy therapists bullying me into buying a product which I hadn’t intended on buying in the first place.
Yes home care is very important, I would even go so far as to say essential, however I also understand that if someone saves their hard earned money for weeks or even months in order to treat themselves to that beautiful pampering facial they have been so looking forward to, pushing a product under their nose and almost making them feel guilty for not buying that product is very off putting and takes away from their beautiful facial.
Instead, I like to first treat my client, and then if I feel they will most certainly benefit from a certain product or two I will suggest it to them.
Then I leave it. I know that my clients are smart ladies. They may want the product knowledge that particular day but not necessarily purchase the product.
First and foremost my clients gain my trust, have a pleasant treatment and obtain some product information without bombarding them with product overload.
Nine times out of ten, that client will return for regular treatments and furthermore over time gradually build up their home care products, maintaining an excellent homecare routine.
In addition, on numerous occasions I have, as a client been left sitting and waiting in the reception area, barely acknowledged by therapists or receptionists. With therapists being so busy, clients back to back it’s no wonder they run over time and unfortunately leave clients waiting longer than expected.
This is not the fault of the therapist. It is more often the owner / manager squeezing in treatments here and there, putting more and more pressure on the poor therapist. Clients are the ones who suffer the most. Even though you have arrived on time (even early as advised by the receptionist) for you appointment you are still left waiting and your treatment time is delayed.
At Lemon Tree Beauty Salon I space out my appointments, allowing optimum time for every client ensuring that no client is rushed in or out of my home based salon. Every client that comes through my door is the most important person in my home salon at that time.
They are literally treated like royalty and rightly so. You are paying for a treatment; you should have an excellent service every time. As I make sure I am not pressed for time you never feel rushed or hurried along.
Above all, a home based salon has a friendly relaxed atmosphere. You don’t have the hassle of getting in and out of car parks, in and around the shops and as one client clearly pointed out to me you avoid impulse buys that you simply can’t avoid once stepping foot inside a shopping centre!
So with all of that in mind that is why I have chosen to keep my salon home based. I am all about the personal touch and giving 110% to every client. I guess that’s why my clients have been very happy clients all the way through.
